Bob Wenners update: Even though it’s just winning one battle in the big “C” war, it’s an important one and for sure a step in the right direction and we’re thrilled to share the update.  So the news is that I had a follow-up MRI on 7/14 and of the 5 tumors found in February when it was discovered that the lung cancer spread to my brain (and after 17 brain radiation treatments), 2 masses are completely gone!  Two more, that were tiny to begin with are even smaller than before.  And the biggest one which was .78” x .71” in February is now .20” x .25”.  So it’s really good news – and you can word it however you want on Angels, but we really do thank everyone for their prayers and caring.  We couldn’t have made it through the last 15 months so well without all the folks out there.

Joe Paluch is home recovering from shoulder surgery. The doc says he’s good to go for another 3-4 years as long as he can play 1st or 2nd base.  Over the top throws are out of the question. Rehab should be complete in plenty of time for the fall session.

Bill Lince continues his amazing recovery following a heart valve replacement and a stent. His heart function has improved and he has been spotted trying out his legs in the outfield and even a swing of the bat or two.

Joe Gallo is negotiating the bleacher steps gracefully, recovering from hernia surgery.  He plans to be back on the field come fall.

Frank DiRenzo is recovering from the recent placement of 2 stents, opening up 2 arteries that were each previously 90% closed! He thanks his alert doctor here in Arizona for suggesting he find a cardiologist in Tennessee.  Frank had no symptoms, but was advised that the first symptom he likely would have shown from his particular situation would have been a heart attack.  So now he can play in the cardiac kids event in February. Welcome to the club that people both love and hate to belong to!
