Returning to Softball following the long summer allows us to re-connect with friends we haven't seen for months. However, it is inevitable that time has brought about situations that cause some to step aside from the game, at least for a while. We hope that those who are unable to compete on the field will still come and enjoy the friendship and join the peanut gallery.
Please feel free to check out the Bulletin Archives to catch up on past notices.
Paul Turley was taken to Del Webb Hospital Wednesday evening. (reported by Bob Murray) He was admitted on 10/25 but has requested NO VISITORS AT THIS TIME.
Update: Paul is still requesting No Visitors. However, his condition is much improved and he reports he is doing well. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers. (Linda G.)
Mike Graham update: Surgery was Oct. 22nd and went beautifully. Unlike Humpty Dumpty, he is put back together again! He is already at home as I write this, about 24 hours after the surgery. The only diet restrictions are no corn or lettuce. Since he wasn't eating that anyhow, no big deal! Following a 6-8 week recovery, he will be ready to play ball again and no doubt challenging Steve Ibey for the "Pigpen" award. Mike and I again want to thank all of you for your many kind words and prayers over this past year. We could not have come through it without you! (Linda G.)
Bob Scheetz was hoping to have 3 of his coronary blood vessels repaired by this evening, but instead he is gathering referrals for Az. Heart Hospital and has to wait. He has been advised that following the procedure, he will have until February to get ready to join the other 58 eligible Cardiac Kids for their annual Tournament.
Hal Noonan had a wonderful 3 summer months in Colorado at mile high altitude, only to return to the Valley floor and experience shortness of breath. Doctor's determined a stent was needed and one was placed recently. He expects to return to softball as soon as his strength allows it, sometime after about 6-8 weeks.
Norm Benoit is scheduled for a pacemaker "upgrade" on All Hallow's Eve, October 31. A defibrillator enhancement will be added. Also, Norm has not had the success that many have had with his knee replacement. The scar tissue continues to be a problem. You are in our thoughts and prayers, Norm. Oh, and by the way, sorry you were left off the Cardiac Kid's list the first time around, but we will make sure you get added this time.
John Albee has removed himself from the Rosie's team for this session as he plans for an upcoming surgery. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers.
Barb Latzo, wife of Bobby Latzo, has been diagnosed with mouth cancer. After a very hectic and scary couple of weeks, it is believed that the cancer is contained in the base of the mouth and is operable. Barb and Bobby will be able to take the cruise in the coming weeks that they have been so looking forward to. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.
Reminder to returning ball players:
Many of you may be returning to swinging the bat and chasing balls after putting the game aside 3 or 4 months ago. Remember to warm up, do your stretches and no fast starts!
