Don Pahlke, husband of longtime sponsor Sue Pahlke, is in Portland recovering from brain surgery, performed on 8/24. A malignant mass was was removed, but the kind of cancer has not been determined yet. He will need radiation and chemotherapy. I have gotten an address and it is posted at both fields. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.
Update: Sue reports (through Arvid Peterson) that Don's speech is nearly normal but his reading ability is still a little slow. They are scheduled to see the oncologist soon to decide on the treatments.
Ray Durrer has managed to stay out of the hospital for a week. Yea! He sees the doc on 9/2 for more tests. He says he is doing better and hasn't had anymore swelling. Keep getting better, Ray.
Rick Fish is doing well after a little heart episode during the game today. He has consulted with his cardiologist. Rick says he has plenty of experience with regards to heart symptoms, so he knew it was time to take himself out of the game. Glad you are doing okay, Rick.
Arnie Wright will be undergoing some outpatient surgery on his foot that will keep him sidelined for awhile. God speed to you Arnie.
Ron Power is scheduled for knee replacement surgery next week. All the best to you, Ron.
Bob Rentner (Hall of Fame 2005) continues to undergo chemotherapy for blood cancer, which was first diagnosed in December. Bob says outside of losing a little weight and being held prisoner by doctor's appointments and blood tests, he is doing okay. His resistance is down due to the treatments, so can't be as social as he might like, but wants you all to know he is hanging in there.
Harold Weimer has notified us that he has decided to listen to his knee and step off the ball field. He promises to stop by from time to time as part of the peanut gallery. You too, Ada! We will miss you.
