Bob Holland has had to step aside from playing for a bit.  His sciatica (nerve from the spine to the legs) is giving him fits.  He still found time to bake and personally deliver cookies to the field and even umpired for an inning.  Take care, Bob.  Hope the meds work so you feel better soon.

Bev Burger's husband Bob has  passed away following a long illness. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers.  He was an enthusiastic fan and a valued member of the Peanut Gallery at all the women's games.Viewing on Thurs. Larry Hoven: Update:Larry Hoven has been back to the cardiologist for follow up and got great news.  He is doing well and does not have to return to the Dr. for six months.  He and Nancy will be flying home on Saturday.  Larry hopes to be back on the ball field come Fall.

A routine physical on April 26 changed Larry Hoven’s summer travel plans to leave town the next day when his Dr. referred him to a cardiologist for more tests, which showed two blocked arteries.  On Tuesday, May 4, he had four stents put in, stayed in the hospital overnight and is now at home with Nurse Nancy taking charge of his recovery activities.  Larry says he will be on the DL list for some time.  Cards, of course, are welcome.

Bill Lince Update: Bill was welcomed to the field on May 4.

Well it has been an interesting week.   My appetite is coming back gradually. And food is starting to taste better more and more. I still have to watch my sodium and fluid intake.  My sleep patterns are really messed up but getting better.  I sleep 15 to 18 hours per day.  As each day has gone by I am not as sleepy during the day.

On April 29th, I went back to Mayo for several post op tests and to see the surgeon. Every test was super and better than anticipated.  I go back to Mayo in 2 weeks for the last SURGEON follow up and then I transfer over to the cardiologist at Mayo and his care.  This whole experience has been phenomenal.  I would highly recommend Mayo as a cardiologist care facility, if you ever need one.

I can't exercise yet (the sternum needs 8 weeks min to heal). They have wired the bone together. Stitched the chest muscles back together and just stitched the chest skin with a plastic surgery method which is just under the skin.  Toni (my wife) is my driver for quite a while.  Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. The issue is, if an air bag would deploy, it would re-break the sternum but, according to the Docs, the wires would not break and I would be in more pain that ever imagined.  The potential of the sternum healing properly thereafter would be slim to none.

However, I am marking my calendar.  Exercise will begin in the near future with an anticipated return to batting practice by June 1 and playing by July 1.  The total objective is to be ready for the World Senior Softball Championships in October.    Any bets ?????

Gordy Rholl Update: Gordy's brain scan came back clear and he has started on Chemo treatments, starting with a 6 hour treatment on 5/12. The doc will check with him next week to see how he is tolerating the treatments and go from there.

In the meantime, Gordy and Nancy are welcoming any and all prayers.  He has been diagnosed with cancer of the lungs, liver and intestinal tract.  He has a PET scan on May 4 and and a brain MRI May 5. In the mean time, his pain is being managed. If anyone deserves a miracle, Gordy certainly does.  Cards are welcome but no visitors at this time. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers. Cards can be sent to: 10035 W. Royal Oak Dr. #1037, Sun City 85351
