Paul Shorty,
as many of you know, has been battling the results of a stroke and cancer. Joyce
and Ron Fano were able to visit him this past week and report that his condition is very deteriorated.
All our prayers go out to Paul and wife Barb.
Tom Sgro:Update: Tom's injuries turned out to be more severe than first thought. He will be visiting a specialist to determine if facial surgery is needed. Medical advice is for Tom to not play for the next couple of months.
Tom was hit in the forehead by a pop-up during a game on Tuesday morning/ 1/12. He was also transferred to the hospital for treatment. He has a big knot on his head and a really black, swollen eyes, but expects to be back soon to play.
Art Nelson: Art was thrilled when he could trade in the sponge baths for a real shower! All our best wishes and prayers for a speedy, uncomplicated recovery. Prayers for your extended family as well.
Art underwent arthroscopic knee surgery 01/12. The clean-up turned out to be a bit more than was planned. In addition to the cartilage mess, he also had some ligament damage. The doc says to expect an 8 week recovery timeframe. No weight on the leg for now. The pain is less today than yesterday though, so that is a good thing.
Joan Rabbot:Update: Jim is so pleased to announce that Joan is now at home and doing well. He says she is a very compliant patient and does what the doctors tell her. His Granddaughter and great granddaughter are still here to help. Best wishes for a speedy recovery!
Wife of Jim Rabbot, had a heart attack on 01/10/10 and required a double-bypass. She and Jim had a great time dancing at Joe Gallo's show on Friday night with no real symptoms. A second surgery was required Saturday night, but all appears to be going well with the heart now. Jim says she has rosy cheeks again! Daughter, granddaughter and great-granddaughter are in town to take turns at the hospital. All our best to Jim and his family.
Important Reminder
If a player is seriously injured at the field, especially a head injury, call 911 and wait for the EMT's. Do not transport the person yourself. You will not be charged for an ambulance unless you agree to be transported.
